| A message to Parents from Race Director, Tony SchillerHere’s just 6 of the many things to help get you ready: |
Forget everything you know about youth sports. Think of it this way… the MiracleKids Triathlon will likely be the biggest sports event you’ll ever attend where most of the competitors hardly have a clue as to what they’re doing. That right there ought to create a great picture of how to put this race into perspective. |
Our purpose is not to discover triathlon prodigies or to honor the fastest 7 year-olds. Instead of being about naming individual champions, the MiracleKids is about giving kids a day to push beyond their comfort zones to discover how much internal strength they truly possess. So many confidence building life lessons come out of that. Plus, every kid gets the life lesson of learning what it feels like to Give Back.. |
Imagine a kid having world-class athletic ability and drive but struggling throughout his childhood because he keeps getting steered into the wrong sports. It happens to more kids than you know and it happened to me. That’s a big part of my motivation to present this incredible sport in a way that sends every kid home feeling great about their experience. Who knows, maybe your child will discover their own special gift? |
2,500 kids and their families know the power of our theme: Kids Racing for Kids Who Can’t. Each kid wears “race #1″ and gets the first name of a cancer kid marked on his/her leg for inspiration. You’ll marvel at how hard your kids compete despite no one keeping score. It’s because they’re racing with their hearts, not their heads. |
Your job is simply to sit back and enjoy taking it all in. I encourage you to take special notice of how hard the kids compete when they are inspired for a great cause. You’ll see the human spirit in full force and you’ll never forget it. So allow yourself to be swept away by the energy. You might never look at sports the same way again. |
It’s not over when the racing stops. Thanks to the support of our sponsors and our huge team of dedicated volunteers, you’ll enjoy a world-class event followed by a great post race celebration called, OrangeFest, a perfect way for kids to bask in the glory of their accomplishment, and a chance to say thanks to volunteers and sponsors. |
|
Our #1 Goal is to have as many kids race as possible. We want the MiracleKids Triathlon to be the biggest in America and that means having more than 1,000 kids sign up! So with help from our great sponsors, we now have one low entry fee to participate in both of our events, the Foss Swim night, and the Lake Ann course practice night.
Scholarships Available: If circumstances don’t allow you to race due to cost, please let us know by emailing the race director. Just go to the Contact Us page and email Tony. He can set you up with a race scholarship.
I look forward to seeing you at the races.
