The creator and director of the MiracleKids Triathlon is 6-time world champion triathlete and professional motivational speaker, Tony Schiller.  Tony’s most recent gold medal came on June 7, 2008, in Vancouver, Canada, where he won the men’s over age 50 world title.  

Tony dreamt up the MiracleKids as a way to both inspire kids to get more fit and also to help the foundation his friends Steve and Becky Chepokas had started after the death of their son, Mitch. Tony felt certain a triathlon modeled after some of the world famous triathlons he’d raced like the Hawaii Ironman would be a huge hit with kids.  He felt an event that focused, NOT on gaining personal glory by winning, but instead, on inspiring kids to race for kids who are too sick to race, would be a huge hit.

The idea has worked so well that the MiracleKids is the biggest fund-raising triathlon for kids in the world.  In just 6 years, 2000 volunteers have put on races that nearly 5000 kids have finished in front of over 25,000 cheering spectators. More important, the kids have raised about $750,000 for the Miracles of Mitch Foundation to support families treating a child with cancer.
